Our History
Monaghan Zone was founded in 1986 and in the few years before this we operated under the umbrella of Donegal Zone with Convenor Jackie Semple. As the number of clubs grew in Monaghan, Monaghan set up their own Zone with the help of the late Jackie Semple. Up to 94/95 season clubs in Louth were part of the Zone but it was then that Oriel Zone was set up.
Monaghan Zone now consists of 44 Clubs from Co Monaghan, Cavan, Fermanagh & South West Armagh. We play our Nationals at St Macartans Sports Complex in Monaghan Town with probably the largest entries in the IIBA with competitions running from the start of October to end of January each year. We have good sponsors (listed on homepage of website) who help us to run these events each year with a year end dinner dance in The Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan Town.
